Movida Corona Rules
WHAT IS MOVIDA CORONA?
MOVIDA CORONA 2009 is a European House Music DJ contest divided in three phases.
• Phase 1: Play-Off Rounds.
• Phase 2: National Finals.
• Phase 3: The European Grand Finale.
The aim of the contest is to detect and promote new talents in the European DJ scene.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Before joining the contest every participant must sign the legal bases of Movida Corona 2009 which are the following:
Number 1
Movida Corona 2009 is a House Music mixing DJs contest. No other styles are allowed due to the fact that Movida Corona promotes only DJs that fit into this style.
Number 2
All participants must be 18 years old or older (unless the legal drinking age of the participating country differs, in which case the participants must be of legal age on this country and are subject to local laws) due to the fact that the event is sponsored by a premium beer brand.
Number 3
During the competition and when attending any possible press interviews all participants will have to wear the official Movida Corona T-shirt provided by the sponsor.
Number 4
All participants of Movida Corona 2009 will have to accept to collaborate and participate in any international promotions and/or productions made by MTV, Corona Extra beer and/or The Ministry of Sound during 2009/ 2010 relating to Movida Corona and cede usage rights (photography and music sessions) to Corona Extra for the same period. No payment or fee will be paid to the DJs for their participation. In case of specific events, travel expenses will be agreed with each participant in advance.
Number 5
Corona has the right to use any images and footage taken at and during any of the Movida Corona events.
Number 6
Technical rider will be provided by the organization. Two Pioneer cd players, a Pioneer Mixing Table, two Tecnichs turntables and an effects mixer. No external devices brought by participants will be accepted on the DJ booth.
Number 7
All sessions must be played in real time; no pre-recorded sessions will be accepted. Either partial or total.
Number 8
The organization will not be responsible for any loss or damage of personal equipment.
Number 9
The length of the DJ set for the national finals will be of 30 minutes.
Number 10
The length of the DJ set for the European Grand Finale will be of 45 minutes.
Number 11
There will be four participants in each National Final and three in the European Grand Finale.
Number 12
Only one candidate will be selected to represent each country in the European Grand Finale*.
Number 13
The three finalists for the Grand Finale will be selected during a pre-selection house style session of 10 minutes for each contestant.
Number 14
Each contestant will be judged based on three major categories; technique, music selection and image/ public response.
Number 15
The judges’ decision is final and we will not enter into any correspondence. The jury for the national finals will be composed of**:
• Tour DJ Junior Jack (30% weigh value of total score)
• Andy Milford, Corona member (30% weight value of total score)
• Club owner (10% weight value of total score)
• Central agency member (10% weigh value of total score)
• And the audience (interactive voting system) (20% weigh value of total score)
Number 16
The winner of each national final will be announced before the end of the party.
Number 17
Each national final winner will receive a UDG professional dj case and a trip to the European Grand Finale. This includes flights, hotel (2 nights) and formal meals.
The hotel may require you to show them photo ID you may also need to provide a credit/debit card swipe to cover any extra bills you may run up on your room.
These reservations are non-transferable and can only the winner.
Number 18
The jury for the European Grand Finale will be composed of:
• International Guest DJ (30% weigh value of total score)
• Club representative Ministry of Sound (30% weigh value of total score)
• Andy Milford, Corona member (20% weigh value of total score)
• Central Agency member (10% weigh value of total score)
• And the audience (interactive voting system) (10% weigh value of total score)
Number 19
The winner will receive the chance to perform 4 times during 2010 at a prestigious house music club, Ministry of Sound. The winner will mix a Compilation CD with Pias Records. The winner, second and third places will have the chance to perform at the Electric Stage of Rock‘n’Rio 2010 in Madrid. This includes plane tickets and overnight stay in Madrid.
CORONA reserves the right of changing the prizes of the present contest for any prizes of similar characteristics in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Number 20
The Movida Corona winner as well as second and third places must agree to play five sessions for one year as official Movida Corona Dj. The brand has absolute preference, in case of promoting any sort of event.
Number 21
The winner will lend the rights of various tracks to Pias Recordings in order for it to be included in the annual Movida Corona compilation. In case he doesn’t have any personal tracks he will mix the compilation with Pias Recording’s own tracks.
The winner’s image as well as his tracks used in the Movida Corona compilation CD can be used on the Movida Corona website, in other Corona promotional material, as well as in press communications and will be without retribution for the DJ.
Number 22
The winner, second and third places are prohibited to drink any other brand in public other than Corona during Movida Corona 2009 and during the period of their contract with The Ministry of Sound.
Number 23
The organization will reserve the right to disqualify any DJ for:
• Intimidation, obstruction or abuse of fellow DJ’s, venue staff, promotional staff, customers or Judges by either the competing DJ or any of their group.
• Misuse of any equipment provided or venue facilities.
• Not being in position when it is your turn to perform without valid reason.
• Holding up proceedings without valid reason.
• Use of any misleading pre-recorded or pre-set pieces that could be miss-interpreted as your performance/skills on the night.
Number 24
Anyone who cannot attend any of the finals cannot participate in the contest. All dates are subject to change. The organiser cannot accept any liability for this. If for whatever circumstance the winner cannot attend the next stage, one of the runner’s up may be offered the chance to compete, this is at the discretion of Corona Extra, no correspondence will be entered into.
Number 25
All participants are obliged to protect and guarantee the honor and good corporate image of the brand CORONA, and never disrespect or demean the products or image of CORONA by any means.
*Latvia and Lithuania will select one representative only for both countries. The United Kingdom will send a representative per region (England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland).
** In case that a jury member is not available the local GModelo team will assign a replacement.
